Manage the movement of capital finance

Buying and Selling Make the World Go Around

Finance is the business of acquiring and managing money and other assets in order to create growth in the domestic and global economies. It’s defined as the management, creation, and study of money, banking, credit, investment, assets, and liabilities.

What it boils down to is selling and buying. The sell-side of the industry offers advice, services, and products to the buy-side of the industry, which uses the services, advice, and products to invest in companies on behalf of others. Sell-side firms act as advisors, agents, or intermediaries. Buy-side firms commit capital to organizations through public or private investments with the goal to make money from money.

An expansive industry with outposts in every facet of the economy, roles in the finance industry are so varied, it’s impossible to provide a single finance professional profile. Clearly, however, it’s a demanding profession that calls for stamina, attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and an appetite for risk. The finance industry is integral to the global economy and impacts every other industry. It is constantly evolving and innovating to meet the needs of a changing world.
